I have a ton of catching up to do since I have been slacking on my blog these days! I will talk about each event up until now, and then I will post separate blogs with just pictures from those events. Soooo here it goes.....
Early December we had a great trip to Texas. Mom and I took turns driving. We made it all the way in 14 hours! Caden did so great on the trip. He slept most of the time, and we would make stops every couple of hours to stretch, do diaper changes and prepare bottles. It was smooth sailing and even Bella came along. The first day there was the Airman's Run bright and early at 7:00 am. We saw all of the flights on their run doing their jodies (little songs the sing along the way). We saw Josh twice during the run, and it was really exciting! A couple of hours later it was time for the Coin Ceremony. I felt like a mess since it had been "misting" all morning and we were outside. I guess most everyone there felt the same! There Ceremony was awesome and just hearing Proud to be an American play over the loud speaker during the Ceremony brought tears to my eyes. I am so proud of my husband! After it was over, we were able to "tap out" our Airman. In other words, they have to stand at attention looking straight ahead until their friend or family member touches them. Well being that Josh and I love to joke I walked up right in front of him and just stood there and smiled. I didn't touch him, so he touched me! Haha! He just couldn't stand it. It was pretty funny. They first hug after 8 1/2 felt great! Mom was there to capture the moment, which is even better. The rest of the day Josh had Base Pass, so we just went around to the stores and such on base. Travis and Katie (Josh's brother and sister-in-law) arrived that night.
Day 2: We got up early and had breakfast at the hotel with Travis and Katie. Then it was off to the Base again for the Graduation Parade. All of the guys looked so good in their dress blues. Especially my husband! It was neat hearing them do the Airman's Creed and seeing them all march in step perfectly. After the parade we went downtown San Antonio to the Riverwalk. It has a lot of little shops and restaurants on either side of a river. We spent the day there and had a great time.
Day 3: Travis picked Josh up at the Base and we headed to the San Antonio Zoo. The Zoo there is pretty big and Caden loved looking at the animals. After to Zoo we went back to the Riverwalk and had a great steak dinner. Josh ate a whole piece of chocolate cake after his meal and it was huge!
Day 4: They only had Base Pass on this day so we spent some time looking at the airplanes, buying him supplies and browsing the BX. We had lunch at a BBQ place on base. We said our goodbyes to Travis and Katie since they had to head back to Rhode Island. Before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye to Josh....it was kind of sad, but I knew I would see him in two weeks for Christmas break. We were on our way back to Tallahassee and he was headed to Mississippi. We stopped in Louisiana on the way home since we left late, and we arrived home the next afternoon.
All in all we had a fantastic trip, and Caden did so great the entire time!!
To be continued.....
