I know this post is 6 weeks late, but I have just been enjoying my little one until it's time to go back to work! (Monday :( )
Wednesday June 6th after work I went to dinner with a few co workers for a little baby celebration. My plan was for one more week of work, my last day being Wednesday June 13th. Afterwards I went over to my moms to visit with Alyssa and my niece Lilyanna. They were in town for only one more night. When I finally got home I quickly changed and got snuggled on the couch for some relaxation. Josh was at the gym working until 12:30 am. At about 8:55 pm my dog Roxy hopped up on the couch to get some love. She plopped her head down on my large belly and all of a sudden I felt like I peed myself. Which probably wouldn't have been too unusual since I was almost 39 weeks pregnant! Lol I went to the bathroom to clean myself up and investigate. When I sat on the toilet fluid just gushed out. It wouldn't stop. I was then questioning myself. Was this really it? I got up and went to get my cell phone and more fluid started pouring out. I went back to the bathroom and called Josh. He decided to come home and we decided yes it was time!! As u sat helpless on the toilet, non stop fluid, Josh gathered all of our stuff and even ran to the drug store quick. I think we arrived at the hospital maybe 10:30 ish. I wasn't having any contractions and got back to triage after some quick paperwork. I was still pouring out fluid and I got an exam. I was 1 cm dilated, still the same as my appointment earlier in the day. The nurse informed us that we would not be leaving the hospital until we had a baby! We were excited and nervous and started making some calls.
At 3:00 am I still had not had any changes and no contractions. They started the Pitocin drip. Soon after my mom arrived. I drifted in and our of sleep. The contractions started out really light. The next morning I had made some progress and was moving right a long. My dad came to visit and an old family friend who works in the ER. Contractions really picked up early afternoon and at about 4 1/2 centimeters I could no longer take the pain. I lost total mental and physical control of myself. Thank you Epidural man Kevin!! After my epidural I felt a whole lot more relaxed. My sister in law Meredith and older brother Joel arrived and we all just hung out in the room. I started to progress quickly and before I knew it they said it was time to push! I pushed with all my strength for about 30 minutes and out he came at 3:27 pm!! It was the most incredible feeling!!
We had lots of visitors, my mom, dad, brother Joel, sister in law Meredith, little brother Paul his girlfriend Alyssa and their little one Lilyanna, Alexis, Amanda, Catie and Stailey. Our little one was perfect 6 lbs 10 oz and 22 inches long. We were so proud and excited to show him off! We were thrilled he arrived in time for Paul and Alyssa to be there and he was born on his Uncle Joel's birthday June 7th. Which was hilarious since we joked about it my whole pregnancy!!
All in all I had an amazing experience and couldn't have asked for a better staff at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Dr. McAlpine ended up delivering Caden and he was amazing!
I'm sitting here now 6 weeks later just staring at this little miracle. Josh and 8 could not be happier!!!
